It works for published periods from 1913-01 to the latest bundled month, year or YYYY-MM inputs, and amounts greater than zero up to one trillion dollars including fractional cents; only the output is rounded to cents. Do not use for other countries, for regional or core CPI, for forecasts, or for financial advice.

It uses the bundled published CPI-U series for 1913 through the latest full year, up to 120 years per call.
