- Citation counts are Crossref counts and differ from Google Scholar or Scopus.
- It is a keyword search over up to 30 works per list, not a systematic review.
- Crossref does not publish which works cite a paper, so only the citation count is shown.
- Up to 50 DOIs per bibliography.

Find papers
find_papersUse this when the user wants a literature list or reading list on a research topic with real citation counts, open-access links and a bibliography file (BibTeX, RIS, CSV, PDF). Searches Crossref publisher records by relevance with optional year range, minimum citations, open-access filter (Unpaywall) and sort. Returns up to 30 works per call. Does not summarize papers, read full text or judge study quality. Do not use for a single known paper (use get_paper_network) or for formatting known DOIs (use format_bibliography).
Get paper network
get_paper_networkUse this when the user has one paper (DOI) and wants its most-cited references and its citation count, for backward snowballing of a literature search, with BibTeX, RIS, CSV and PDF files. Data comes from Crossref; the list of works that cite the paper is not available from Crossref, and the result says so. Does not accept titles or search by topic (use find_papers) and does not read full text.
Format bibliography
format_bibliographyUse this when the user has a list of DOIs and wants a reference list in APA, MLA, Chicago (author-date) or IEEE style plus BibTeX and RIS files that import into Zotero, EndNote or Mendeley. Metadata comes from Crossref, so references are real publisher records, not generated text. Up to 50 DOIs per call. Does not accept titles, URLs of web pages or citation text, and does not check a manuscript.
